Singapore and Korean Clinicians Call for More Individualised, Evidence-Based Postnatal Care as Women Enter Motherhood Later in Life

DeRAMA Singapore’s Joint Postnatal Recovery Seminar explored how Singapore can strengthen postpartum support by combining professional care with established family and confinement traditions.

SINGAPORE – Media OutReach Newswire – 16 September 2026 – As more women enter motherhood later in life, postnatal care should be shaped around the individual and grounded in clinical evidence, medical experts said at DeRAMA Singapore’s Joint Postnatal Recovery Seminar. Held at The Singapore EDITION on 17 August 2026, the session brought together Dr Park Jeong-mi, Founder and Medical Director of Garden of Her Women’s Clinic in Korea, and Singapore based obstetrician and gynaecologist Dr Ho Ping Ling of Ascensus Health @ Mount Alvernia. Together they examined how postpartum practices have evolved in both countries, and how professional support can sit alongside traditional confinement customs.

Supporting the Changing Needs of Modern Mothers

Singapore women are increasingly entering motherhood at a later age.

Dr Ho noted that mothers aged 35 and above may face a higher likelihood of pre-existing medical conditions, pregnancy complications and Caesarean delivery, each of which can affect how a woman recovers after childbirth. “There is no one-size-fits-all approach. All women deserve individualised care, regardless of whether they are younger or older mothers,” said Dr Ho.

Every mother’s needs, she added, should be assessed against her health, pregnancy journey, mode of delivery, family support and personal preferences. While the postpartum period is medically recognised as roughly six weeks, a full return to health may take longer from one woman to the next.

From Family-Based Care to a Professional Recovery System

Dr Park shared that postpartum care in Korea, like Singapore, was traditionally provided at home by mothers, mothers-in-law and extended family members. However, the rise of nuclear families, greater workforce participation among women and reduced availability of family caregivers created a need for a more structured alternative.

This contributed to the development of the sanhujoriwon, or postpartum recovery centre, where mothers receive coordinated support for physical recovery, nutrition, breastfeeding and newborn care.

According to Dr Park, 85.5%1 of mothers in Korea now use a postpartum recovery centre after childbirth. While centres range from basic to premium facilities, they are generally regarded as an established part of the country’s postpartum journey rather than an occasional luxury service. Staff trained in maternal and newborn care are on hand around the clock.

Dr Park also shared that postpartum care in Korea has expanded beyond rest and nutrition. Modern recovery programmes may consider pain, swelling, musculoskeletal changes, sleep, breastfeeding and emotional wellbeing, with support adapted to the mother’s health and mode of delivery.

Singapore, by contrast, remains largely home-based in its approach, often drawing on relatives and confinement nannies. This offers valuable emotional and practical help, though the panel raised concerns about inconsistent training, uneven standards and the medical basis of certain confinement practices. Dr Ho observed that many long-held confinement rules stem from practices passed down over decades rather than medical evidence, pointing to the belief that mothers should avoid washing their hair or showering for long stretches, which she said runs counter to sound hygiene and infection control.

    Making Structured Care More Accessible

A recurring theme was affordability, and how families might be better supported to access structured postnatal care. Dr Park noted that in Korea some centres are run with local government support at comparatively low cost, with maternal and newborn health vouchers helping to defray expenses. That model drew interest as a possible reference point for Singapore, where recovery centres began gaining acceptance only in recent years and remain out of reach for many families.

Dr Ho suggested there was room for local healthcare providers, public institutions and insurers to widen access, adding that stronger support for mothers could, in time, help lift Singapore’s birth rate. Both doctors also observed that families increasingly blend the two models, beginning at a centre before continuing recovery at home with trained or family support.

    Looking Beyond the Delivery Room

The doctors concluded that postpartum care should not be viewed solely as a period of rest or a premium hospitality service. It is a critical stage of maternal and newborn health that can affect the wellbeing of the mother, child and wider family.

The seminar pointed to an opportunity for Singapore to weave professional, evidence-informed services into the family involvement and confinement traditions that mothers here already value, complementing them rather than pushing them aside.

By setting Korean and Singapore perspectives side by side, DeRAMA Singapore hopes to spark a broader national conversation, one that treats postnatal recovery not as an afterthought once a baby arrives, but as a stage where traditional practices, family involvement and professional care work together to support modern mothers.Hashtag: #DeRama

LHN Energy to Roll Out Integrated Energy Infrastructure Solution Combining Solar PPA and DC Fast Charging

SINGAPORE – Media OutReach Newswire – 16 September 2026 – LHN Energy, a solar company in Singapore, will roll out a new integrated Solar Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) and Direct Current (DC) fast charging solution in early September 2026, giving eligible businesses a way to develop charging and renewable energy infrastructure alongside their transition to electric heavy vehicles (eHVs).

LHN Energy to Roll Out Integrated Energy Infrastructure Solution Combining Solar PPA and DC Fast Charging
LHN Energy to Roll Out Integrated Energy Infrastructure Solution Combining Solar PPA and DC Fast Charging

Addressing the Infrastructure Cost Behind Heavy EV Adoption
LHN Energy’s new service combines solar generation, DC fast charging, and project delivery within one energy infrastructure plan. It is designed for businesses operating heavy vehicles from depots, warehouses, manufacturing facilities, industrial sites, and other premises where vehicles can return for scheduled charging.

Potential users include logistics and transport companies, fleet operators, distribution centres, manufacturers, construction and engineering businesses, and other operators planning to introduce eHVs.

Under the Solar PPA component, LHN Energy finances, installs, and maintains the solar system, while the business purchases the electricity generated under an agreed arrangement.

Before structuring a project, LHN Energy assesses the planned eHV deployment, charging demand, electricity consumption, rooftop solar potential, and available electrical capacity. These findings are used to determine the appropriate solar and DC fast charging configuration for the site.

“Our focus is on reducing the amount businesses need to commit at the start of their fleet transition. By combining Solar PPA, DC fast charging, integrated project delivery, and approved EHVCG support within one commercial structure, eligible projects may be structured with zero upfront infrastructure cost. This will depend on project eligibility, site assessment, grant approval, the financing structure, and final commercial terms,” revealed Jeremy Ong, Senior Manager of LHN Energy.

EHVCG Support Forms Part of the Integrated Project Structure
The rollout comes as Singapore’s Electric Heavy Vehicle Charger Grant (EHVCG) provides additional support for eligible charging infrastructure. Running from 1 January 2026 to 31 December 2028, the grant co-funds up to 50% of eligible charger installation costs, capped at S$30,000 per charger, for the first 500 approved chargers.

Eligible expenditure may include the charger system, Licensed Electrical Worker fees, cabling, and installation. As EHVCG is reimbursement-based, businesses must complete the required approval and claims process before receiving the grant.

LHN Energy incorporates available EHVCG support into the project alongside Solar PPA financing, charger supply and installation, electrical works, and commissioning. This gives businesses a single point of coordination for the main infrastructure requirements, reducing the need to manage separate vendors, funding arrangements, and installation timelines.

LHN Energy Targets Singapore’s Growing Energy Infrastructure Needs
As more businesses introduce eHVs into their fleets, charging infrastructure is becoming a larger part of site and operational planning. Companies need to consider not only where vehicles will charge, but also whether their existing electrical capacity and energy supply can support growing demand.

“For businesses moving towards Heavy EVs, the investment does not stop with the vehicles. Charging capacity, site power requirements, and long-term energy demand also need to be planned together. Our aim is to provide an energy infrastructure model that allows businesses to address these requirements as part of one coordinated project,” said Jeremy Ong, Senior Manager of LHN Energy.

Looking ahead, LHN Energy expects fleet electrification to place greater emphasis on scalable charging capacity and site readiness. The September rollout is intended to support businesses planning not only for their first eHVs, but also for future fleet expansion.

Media OutReach Newswire PRISM Summit 2026 Champions Trust and Visibility for the Future of PR in the Age of AI

IPRS will convene senior communications leaders from across Southeast Asia in Singapore on 12 November, where results of the inaugural Singapore State of PR and Communications Survey will be unveiled

SINGAPORE – Media OutReach Newswire – 16 September 2026 – The Institute of Public Relations of Singapore (IPRS) will hold the Media OutReach Newswire PRISM Summit 2026 at METT Singapore on 12 November, bringing together senior public relations and corporate communications practitioners from across Southeast Asia.

Under the theme “From Message to Mandate“, the Summit will examine how communications leaders can drive truth and transparency to build brand trust in an AI-driven era — and why securing AI visibility and maintaining narrative integrity are now essential to deliver measurable business impact.

Jennifer Kok, Founder and CEO of Media OutReach Newswire, said, “As the first and only top-tier global newswire founded in Asia Pacific, we are pleased to deepen our partnership with IPRS as Title Sponsor for the Media OutReach Newswire PRISM Summit 2026, driven by a shared commitment to empowering PR professionals and advancing the industry.

“This is the golden age of PR, as press releases are a trusted source of news for LLMs. Media OutReach Newswire continues to champion the PR industry by redefining press release distribution – connecting brands with journalists and AI to build brand trust, grow AI visibility, and achieve maximum PR impact.”

“Our inaugural Singapore State of PR and Communications Survey, launched jointly with IPRS, aims to provide vital insights into fast-evolving PR dynamics, emerging technologies, and the strategic integration of AI tools into daily workflows. AI is transforming how we communicate with credibility, giving PR practitioners the opportunity to lead by driving both visibility and trust at scale,” she added.

The Summit agenda will consider how the profession can contribute more directly to enterprise value, board-level risk management and institutional credibility. It will cover stakeholder intelligence and advocacy, information integrity, community influence and the changing relationship between organisations, journalists and the audiences they serve.

Findings from the inaugural Singapore State of PR and Communications Survey will be presented at the Summit.

Ross Gan, President of IPRS said, “PRISM Summit 2026 aims to elevate public relations practice across Southeast Asia. Trust and reputation increasingly determine whether an organisation has the legitimacy to act, lead and retain the confidence of its stakeholders. They must therefore be considered at the point where decisions are made, rather than addressed afterwards through messaging. We are also excited to partner Media OutReach Newswire for the inaugural Singapore State of PR and Communications Survey, which is a key highlight of the PRISM Summit this year.”

“We welcome senior colleagues from across the region who share this conviction. PRISM will be a place to challenge established assumptions, learn from one another and define the contribution communications leaders should make at the highest levels of their organisations.”

The Summit will also address the impact of artificial intelligence on communications. Sessions will explore how earned media shapes the information presented by generative AI, the accompanying questions of disclosure and accountability, and whether established measures of communications performance remain fit for purpose.

Notable speakers include Rappler Co-Founder Glenda Gloria, TSC.ai Founder & CEO Terence Lyons, getUGC.io founder Wendy Wang, Emily Poon (CEO, Singapore Institute of Directors), Shaad Hamid (General Manager, Singapore at GrowthOps Asia) and Emma Dale (Co-Founder, Prospect Resourcing).

Cindy Lim, IPRS Council Member and PRISM Summit 2026 Chair, said: “We have shaped the programme around issues already reaching the desks of senior practitioners, from reputation risk and stakeholder intelligence to AI, influence and measurement. We are also making a deliberate effort to look for speakers beyond the regular conference circuit. Compelling contributors with distinctive experience to share are coming on board, and we are excited to introduce them to our delegates.”

PRISM Summit 2026 is supported by Title Sponsor Media OutReach Newswire, Coffee & Silver Sponsor Notified, Silver Sponsors Isentia and Truescope, Official PR Agency Pinpoint and Venue Partner METT Singapore.

Supporting Partners include Edge Digital, the Public Relations and Communications Association (PRCA), World Communication Forum Association (WCFA), Asia Pacific PR Network (APRN), Singapore Institute of Directors (SID) and Singapore Press Club (SPC).

The PRISM Summit is intended for senior in-house communications and corporate affairs leaders, agency principals, advisers and other professionals responsible for organisational reputation and stakeholder relationships.

Registration and further information are available at the Summit website.

  • Tenchijin’s "KnoWaterleak" Surpasses 100 Cumulative Municipal Contracts in Japan

Tenchijin’s "KnoWaterleak" Surpasses 100 Cumulative Municipal Contracts in Japan

From Daily Leak Surveys to Long-Term Pipe Renewal, Satellite Data and AI Now Support Water and Sewer Decisions Nationwide

TOKYO, JAPAN – Media OutReach Newswire – 16 September 2026 – Tenchijin Inc., a space-tech innovator founded as a JAXA venture, announced that “Tenchijin COMPASS KnoWaterleak,” its water DX solution using satellite data to support sustainable water utility management, has surpassed 100 cumulative municipal contracts*. (*Including renewals)
Since launching in April 2023, the service has been adopted and renewed by utilities across Japan, expanding from leak risk assessment into pipe renewal planning and, most recently, inspection planning for sewer pipelines.

    Addressing Risks Hidden Underground
Japan records over 20,000 leakage incidents a year, mostly caused by aging pipes. Roughly 189,000 km of the network is now over 40 years old (Japan Water Works Association, FY2023), and renewal costs around JPY 200 million per kilometer. With tight budgets and a shrinking technical workforce, replacing every aging pipe is unrealistic, so Tenchijin takes a preventive-maintenance approach.

Supporting the Decisions That Protect Daily Water
First trialed with Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture, KnoWaterleak applies AI to satellite data combined with utilities’ own pipe and leak-history records, and field teams use the results to prioritize where to survey. For renewal planning, Tenchijin weighs pipe condition alongside “importance,” reflecting the homes, hospitals, schools and evacuation centers each line serves, to generate renewal priority scenarios. The same approach now supports sewer inspection planning.

    Recognition and What Comes Next
KnoWaterleak is listed in the Water and Sewerage DX Technology Catalogue published by Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. Tenchijin will launch “KnoWaterleak Cloud” in FY2027, a browser-based service for viewing pipe network maps on site, with early access open to 100 utilities from 1 September 2026. To mark the milestone, the company has also released its first brand film on YouTube.

  • DHL Express sees rise in heavyweight shipments in Asia Pacific as businesses circumvent unpredictability

DHL Express sees rise in heavyweight shipments in Asia Pacific as businesses circumvent unpredictability

    • Launched in H1 2026, Heavy Weight Express service saw a 16% increase in Weight per Day growth for the region (excluding China)
    • High-value, technology-related cargo, engineering & manufacturing, and automotive are the biggest drivers, making up two-thirds of the total weight of heavyweight segment

SINGAPORE – Media OutReach Newswire – 16 September 2026 – Following DHL Express’s introduction of Heavy Weight Express (HWX) this year, DHL Express recorded a 16% growth in its Time Definite International Weight per Day in Asia Pacific (excluding China) between January and July2026. This reflects how DHL’s Smart Industrial Growth Strategy is yielding positive outcomes as businesses are moving heavier, critical components, machinery, and industrial equipment across borders.

    DHL Express heavy weight cargo
    DHL Express heavy weight cargo

The heavyweight market has been gaining traction in recent years. Industry research shows that an estimated 10.2 million tons of heavyweight shipments¹ are being moved in Asia Pacific (excluding China) each year. Many companies have spent years reducing inventory and improving efficiency across their supply chains. However, companies today operate in a far less predictable environment marked by trade disruptions, manufacturing bottlenecks, and fluctuating demand. The rise in heavyweight shipment volumes mirrors a shift in how businesses are managing supply chain risks, as they increasingly turn to express logistics not only to handle sudden shifts in demand but also to have greater agility, certainty and control over timelines.

“Behind the numbers is a simple reality: Businesses are shipping heavy when timing matters and when it’s critical,” said Ken Lee, CEO for Asia Pacific, DHL Express. “As companies continue to navigate a complex landscape where uncertainty has become the norm, speed and reliability have also become part of the business decision. Customers are making deliberate decisions on what they ship through our network. Our Heavy Weight Express solution helps companies avoid downtime, protect working capital and keep operations moving when supply chains don’t go exactly as planned.”

Technology, Engineering & Manufacturing, and Automotive top Asia Pacific’s heavyweight contributors

Across the region, high-value, technology-related cargo, such as computer chips and semiconductors, accounts for the largest share of DHL Express’s heavyweight segment at over 34%, driven by rapid investment in data centers to support the growing demandfor computing capacity, data storage, cloud services, as well as artificial intelligence. This has fueled demand for technology-related shipments, from semiconductors and servers to cooling systems and electrical infrastructure. However, a data center crunch is creating supply chain bottlenecks as demand for semiconductor manufacturing outpaces infrastructure supply. As a result, express logistics services are urgently activated to move critical components quickly and efficiently, helping to keep projects on schedule.

The other main contributors to the heavyweight segment are businesses in engineering & manufacturing as well as the automotive industry.

Automotive is the fastest growing sector

HWX service is also gaining strong momentum in the automotive sector, with its shipment weight increasing at a rate of nearly 20%. As the leading export region for this sector, Asia Pacific is also seeing a surge in Asian automotive brands, particularly Electric Vehicle (EV) manufacturers from China and Southeast Asia. As these brands expand into new markets, they are also moving vehicle parts sourced from different suppliers and manufacturers across borders. This has created the appetite for expedited shipments to keep production running. In this sector, a single late or failed shipment could instantly cost automotive manufacturers millions of dollars.

Asia affirms role as a vital trading hub

In Asia Pacific (excluding China), the fastest growth in heavyweight shipments for the first seven months of the year came from India, the Philippines, Vietnam, Japan and Hong Kong. These markets reflect two of the region’s strongest trade corridors – Southeast Asia’s firm role as a manufacturing and sourcing base, and North Asia’s strategic position as a hub for high-value technology, industrial and automotive supply chains. Additionally, India, the Philippines, and Vietnam are also recognized as key markets of the geographic tailwinds initiative.

“As companies continue to manufacture out of Asia, balancing project timelines and building more resilient and agile supply chains become a priority. To maintain production continuity and ensure certainty, they are consolidating goods into heavier shipments. These non-negotiable conditions are also “urgency drivers” that put us at an advantage to help deliver our customers’ shipments at a definite time,” said Ken Lee, CEO for Asia Pacific, DHL Express.

In recent years, DHL Express has added several new infrastructures across the region, including an expanded global hub in Hong Kong, facilities near Cebu and Manila airports, gateway at Christchurch airport, Hanoi gateway near Noi Bai airport, as well as Delhi gateway, culminating in approximately 1,000 facilities in the Asia Pacific region. This is further supported by a robust aviation network of around 810 flights per day.

BANGKOK, THAILAND – Media OutReach Newswire – 16 September 2026 – Oriental Residence Bangkok presents a new chapter in urban living through The Art of Intuitive Refinement, a concept that combines the elegance of residential living with service that intuitively understands each guest’s needs, respects their privacy and anticipates every detail to provide complete peace of mind throughout their stay. The philosophy of care behind this experience has also earned international recognition, with the property receiving One MICHELIN Key in both 2024 and 2025, marking its second consecutive year of recognition, as well as membership of Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH).

Oriental Residence Bangkok brings The Art of Intuitive Refinement to life through intuitive care, privacy and spaces that embrace each guest's individual rhythm
Oriental Residence Bangkok brings The Art of Intuitive Refinement to life through intuitive care, privacy and spaces that embrace each guest’s individual rhythm

At the heart of The Art of Intuitive Refinement is The Invisible Hand – an approach to care that does not need to be visible at every step, yet allows guests to feel that everything around them has been thoughtfully prepared and is exactly where it needs to be. Guests are free to enjoy uninterrupted time and privacy, while remaining assured that a dedicated team is always ready to assist.

One expression of this philosophy is the 24-hour butler service available to guests staying in Prestige Club Rooms. Acting as a personal assistant throughout the stay, the butler takes care of luggage, garments and shoes, as well as restaurant reservations and curating places and experiences in Bangkok around each guest’s individual interests. Every detail is handled seamlessly before it becomes something the guest needs to request or worry about.

Guests staying in Prestige Club Rooms also enjoy access to the Executive Lounge, a private space for relaxation from the moment of arrival, as well as for informal meetings. The lounge offers private check-in and check-out, refreshments and snacks throughout the day, afternoon tea, and evening cocktails and canapés. Every moment within the lounge is designed to feel private and relaxed, allowing guests to spend their time in their own way, without interruption.

This sense of perfectly considered care is also reflected in the hotel’s design by renowned designer Barbara Barry, who conveys tranquillity through gentle lines, warm tones, natural materials and the delicate use of light. Together, these elements create an atmosphere that encourages genuine relaxation. Within the guestrooms, details are prepared with thoughtful simplicity, from quality bedding and sleep masks to carefully selected music that creates an environment conducive to restful sleep, allowing guests to wake refreshed and ready for a new day.

For executives, business travellers, families and those staying in Bangkok for several days or weeks, the one- to three-bedroom residences are designed to support every aspect of daily living. Each offers a separate living area, kitchen and dedicated workspace, enabling guests to work, spend time with their family or relax within their own private surroundings. This allows them to maintain their familiar way of living without having to change how they live simply because they are away from home.

Every part of the day can unfold within the hotel, beginning with dining at Café Claire, a contemporary French bistro, followed by relaxed moments beside the pool or in a cabana at The Play Deck, and concluding with drinks and evening conversations at Oriental Bar. Meanwhile, the outdoor swimming pool, fitness centre and leisure spaces invite guests to pause from their daily schedules and spend their time as they choose. As the bustle of meetings, travel and activities across the city gradually fades, what remains is the opportunity to pause and reconnect with themselves.

The surrounding neighbourhood is equally integral to the residential experience. Set on Wireless Road amid Bangkok’s embassy district, the hotel offers both tranquillity and privacy, while providing convenient connections to the city’s business districts, shopping destinations and lifestyle attractions. Whether guests wish to engage with the energy of the city or retreat to a quieter pace, nearby Lumphini Park and Benjakitti Park offer green spaces where they can spend time in nature.

Ultimately, The Art of Intuitive Refinement is not about making every element conspicuous, but about the art of ensuring that everything is thoughtfully considered and in its proper place. When care is offered without the need to ask, privacy is respected and every detail has been anticipated, what remains is more than comfort: it is time and space that genuinely belong to each guest, allowing them to focus on themselves, the people who matter and the things that give meaning to each day.

Within the portfolio of ONYX Hospitality Group, Oriental Residence offers a distinctive residential experience defined by tranquillity, privacy and thoughtful attention to detail. It complements the Group’s core brands – Amari, OZO and Shama – by enabling guests to choose an experience suited to different travel styles and moments in life, while spending more time on what holds meaning for them. This reflects ONYX Hospitality Group’s “More of What You Love” philosophy.

  • ANN heritage e-book brings Asia closer through a digital celebration of ancient legacies, modern innovation, and shared identity

ANN heritage e-book brings Asia closer through a digital celebration of ancient legacies, modern innovation, and shared identity

SINGAPORE – Media OutReach Newswire – 16 September 2026 – The Asia News Network (ANN), a premier alliance of 20 leading news titles across the continent, is proud to announce the release of its latest digital publication: a comprehensive e-book dedicated to the cultural heritage and enduring spirit of Asia.

    01 Photo cover

The e-book, titled ‘Inside Asia’s Hidden Heritage Treasures,’ serves as a definitive peek into the soul of Asia, moving beyond geopolitical headlines to explore the spiritual, cultural, and historical threads that bind the world’s largest continent together.

You can download the e-book here.

    What Readers Will Discover
The e-book serves as an essential primer for both Asian readers and global readers, featuring:

    • A Tapestry of Traditions: A look at the many heritage sites across the region, from tropical rainforests to majestic structures both ancient and modern.
    • The ‘Asian Century’: An exploration of how cultural pillars and diverse religious influences have shaped a modern hub of innovation.
    • Asia’s Best-Kept Secrets: A reminder of Asian marvels, history and the core values of community, morality, and harmony with nature.

A Vision of Resilience and Modernity

Current ANN Chairperson and Chief Content Officer of Star Media Group (Malaysia), Esther Ng, emphasises that the publication is a celebration of Asia’s unique ability to evolve while honouring its roots.

‘Asia is living proof of heritage and legacy living on and evolving,’ says Ng. ‘This is where ancient legacies and ultra-modern facets exist together. To understand Asia is to know Asia – a region rich in cultural diversity, economic vitality, and the fastest adoption of technology in the world.’

Of course, Asia’s achievements go beyond its many material milestones: ‘Much of Asia’s sense of wonder is rooted in its philosophies, which influences its people’s understanding of community, morality and behaviour – respect for elders, harmony with nature and interconnectivity with the larger whole.’

Overall, the e-book focuses on Asia’s ‘winning factors’ that boost global togetherness. ‘We inherited a priceless form of heritage which speaks of endurance and survival – the two most accurate descriptions of all things Asian,’ Ng adds.

    Reclaiming the Asian Story
The project also addresses a long-standing challenge in regional media: the reliance on Western perspectives. Former ANN Chairman Mahfuz Anam, Editor-in-Chief and Publisher of The Daily Star (Bangladesh), notes that ANN was founded 27 years ago specifically to address this imbalance.

‘Our mutual understanding mostly depended on how foreign news agencies and globally reputed newspapers covered us,’ Mahfuz explains, stating that said coverage gave a perspective which could often be problematic.

‘This awareness led 20 leading English-language dailies and a select number of national news agencies of Asia from Japan to Pakistan, covering most of the countries of Asia, to form a network to exchange news, views and features about ourselves for the reading and viewing of the general public of our respective countries.’

‘This e-book is an integral part of our “journey of rediscovery”. The more we know about ourselves, the more we are at ease in dealing with others. It helps us appreciate our differences and, in turn, respect them,’ Mahfuz adds.

A Necessity in a Globalised World

The survey found that despite uncertainties surrounding the global economic outlook, geopolitical developments and market volatility, the Investor Confidence Index stood at 68, broadly in line with last year’s level, indicating that overall investor confidence in Hong Kong remains positive and strong. Respondents who were confident about market conditions over the next 12 months expected an average investment return of 7.7%. Dah Sing Bank announced the findings of its 2027 Investor Confidence Index, which show that despite global market volatility, overall investor sentiment and confidence in Hong Kong remain positive and stable.

Conducted in August 2026, the survey tracked changes in investors’ sentiment and behaviour under different market conditions through interviews with investors of profiles comparable to last year’s sample, with the aim of establishing an authoritative indicator that reflects overall investor confidence in the market. The online survey covered 608 Hong Kong investors, comprising mass investors (liquid assets below HKD1 million), affluent investors (HKD1 million to HKD8 million) and high-value investors (above HKD8 million).

The survey showed that investors generally maintained a proactive investment stance. A total of 88% of respondents indicated that they would maintain or increase their investment allocation over the next 12 months. Investors with higher levels of confidence also tended to hold a lower proportion of cash and adopt more diversified asset allocations, reflecting that risk diversification remains an important investment strategy.

Equities continued to be the most favoured asset class, with 56% of respondents confident of generating positive returns from equities over the next 12 months. Respondents also expected the Hang Seng Index and the S&P 500 Index to rise by 15% and 17% respectively from benchmark levels[1] over the coming 12 months, representing a larger increase than anticipated last year.

In terms of investment themes, technology-related opportunities remained the area of greatest interest for the second consecutive year, with 58% of respondents indicating an interest in related investment opportunities. Meanwhile, 49% of respondents expressed concerns over high valuations of AI-related assets, while 46% were concerned about geopolitical risks and 38% about economic slowdown.

The survey also found that 59% of respondents would consider allocating to structured products, with the proportion reaching 72% among high-value investors. Among high-value investors who would consider allocating to structured products, the confidence index reached 80, while 53% planned to increase their investment allocations over the next 12 months. This suggests that more confident investors are more inclined to adopt diversified investment strategies.

Ms. Florence Cheung, General Manager and Deputy Head of Wealth Management of Dah Sing Bank, said: “This year’s survey shows that while investors continue to seek returns, they are placing increasing emphasis on risk management and asset allocation. As the investment environment continues to evolve, demand for diversified investment solutions and risk management tools continues to grow. Structured products can cater to different market conditions as well as customers’ diverse investment objectives and risk appetite, providing more flexible investment options and helping investors capture market opportunities while managing risk.”

Ms. Cheung added: “We note that some investors are interested in structured products while also seeking clearer product information and a more convenient investment experience. In response, Dah Sing Bank will continue to strengthen investor education and market information sharing to help customers better understand the features and potential risks of different investment products. Additionally, we continue to enhance our digital wealth management experience. Customers can already subscribe to selected structured products through our digital channels, and we will explore expanding the offering to include more product types in the future, enabling customers to capture market opportunities more conveniently and build more resilient and diversified investment portfolios.”

Semperis Secures IMDA Accreditation to Strengthen Identity Resilience in the AI Era

Achieves triple-digit APAC growth, and expands senior leadership team to accelerate regional momentum

SINGAPORE – Media OutReach Newswire – 16 September 2026 – Semperis, the identity-driven cyber resilience and crisis response company, today announced accreditation from Singapore’s Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), recognising Semperis for its ‘Identity Resilience Platform’. This is a strong validation of the company’s product capabilities, operational maturity and readiness to serve enterprise and public sector customers. It comes on the back of the company’s triple digit revenue growth across Asia, including Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand, and Japan.

The company also announced several new hires amid this growth phase, with Shekhar Thakurdesai joining Semperis as AVP of India and SAARC business, and Ridwan Basri as Channel Director in Asia. Nick Lowther and Daniel O’Mara have joined Semperis in key sales roles to bolster growth across the region.

Organisations across Asia Pacific look to bolster cyber resilience amid the rapid adoption of AI agents, with threat actors increasingly targeting identity systems such as Active Directory, Entra ID, Okta and Ping Identity. According to Semperis’ newest study, State of Identity Security in the AI Era, only 21% of the organisations in Singapore and Australia are confident they could fully regain control of their identity infrastructure if an AI agent exposes admin credentials to an attacker, while 93% already use or plan to use AI agents for sensitive security tasks such as password resets and VPN access.

“Asia Pacific is one of the fastest-growing global digital economies, and organisations in the region are embracing AI agents and integrating it into their identity systems. However, Semperis’ study highlights that many haven’t to date adopted safeguards to manage them,” said Gerry Sillars, Vice President, Asia Pacific and Japan, Semperis.

“Unfortunately, cybercriminals are moving just as quickly. Businesses are recognising that cyber resilience starts with protecting the identity systems that every user, application and AI agent depends upon. Our exceptional growth across APJ reflects this shift in mindset. We’re investing aggressively in local talent, expanding our regional presence and strengthening our partner ecosystem so we can help more organisations prevent, respond to, and recover from identity-based cyberattacks with confidence.”

Singapore continues to play a pivotal role in Semperis’ regional growth strategy, as governments and enterprises accelerate AI adoption.

Mr Edwin Low, Director, Enterprise & Ecosystem Development, IMDA said, “Identity systems are a key target for cyberattacks, with AI adding new complexity to an evolving threat landscape. With IMDA’s accreditation, we look forward to Semperis bringing its resilience and recovery capabilities to help organisations better safeguard their critical identity infrastructure.”

With continued investment in regional talent, strategic partnerships and innovation, Semperis is well-positioned to support organisations across Asia Pacific and Japan as they strengthen identity resilience against increasingly sophisticated cyber threats in the AI era.
